BETTER ORGANS, BETTER OUTCOMES: WHAT ARE THE GOALS FOR CURRENT RESEARCH IN ORGAN DONATION AND TRANSPLANTATION?
Currently in the UK over 6,500 people are on the waiting list for an organ transplant. In 2015/16 more organ transplants were carried out than ever before, but there is still a gap between the number of patients waiting for a transplant and the number of organs available. Professor Mike Nicholson and his colleagues talk about how their research may help to close this gap and lead to an increase in both the quality and quantity of organs available for transplantation.
