Serena MacMillan
Serena is the current chair of the Early Career Researcher (ECR) Committee and is a post-doctoral researcher in the Department of Surgery at the University of Cambridge. She has a basic science background and is passionate about the training of our young researchers, particularly focusing on patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE).
Rebeka Jenkins
Rebeka is a trained kidney doctor, now doing a PhD at Newcastle University supported by NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT). She works in Theme 6 of the BTRU and focuses on the patient experience of transplantation healthcare.
Madison Cooper
Madi is a 3rd-year PhD student in the Translational and Clinical Research Institute at Newcastle University. With a foundation in biomedical science, she is passionate about lab research and plans to pursue a career in academia post-PhD.
Hannah Murray
Hannah is the PPIE Manager for the BTRU. Her main responsibilities are to support the BTRU’s Patient and Public Research Panel, to help BTRU researchers implement panel feedback into their research, to manage engagement projects and events, and to and write and publish the unit’s newsletter and social media posts. Hannah’s also a fully trained Mental Health First Aider. She undertook the training to ensure that BTRU researchers feel supported in their roles and have someone to talk to if they’re experiencing difficulties.
