It’s long been recognised that the best research is produced when researchers and communities work together. And that’s why patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) are an integral part of our work. By ensuring that our research and related activities focus on the topics and questions that matter most to all stakeholders we can ensure that our research is relevant, makes a difference, is of the highest quality, provides the taxpayer with value for money and has the greatest impact.
Our PPIE activities place both the patient and public voice and the UK Standards of Public Involvement at the heart of what we do. We’re committed to working with people from underserved communities and ensuring our activities are inclusive and accessible to all stakeholders.
Central to our Get Involved programme is our Patient and Public Research Panel, which includes members from all walks of life. We work together with our panel members in a whole range of ways to deliver the aims of the unit.
If you’re interested in joining our panel or simply want to find out more about getting involved with our research, please contact Hannah Murray, our PPIE Lead, who’d be happy to hear from you: hannah.murray@newcastle.ac.uk
